This study aims to explore the application of AI in English language education in China, especially how it reshapes classroom teaching, online learning, and assessment methods, and to analyze the impact of AI on teachers' roles. First, by analyzing the application of AI in teaching methods and assessment approaches, the study reveals how smart technologies can improve student engagement and learning outcomes, which in turn drive teaching efficiency. Second, the study examines how AI has led to a shift in the role of teachers from traditional knowledge transmitters to learning facilitators and personalized supporters. In addition, the proliferation of AI requires teachers to continuously improve their digital literacy and undergo adaptive training to effectively integrate new technologies. Finally, the study emphasizes that despite the challenges of technology integration, AI offers great potential for improving the quality and equity of English education in China. Through this study, we aim to provide educational policy makers and practitioners with a reference to promote the deep integration and sustainable development of AI in English education in China.
