Abstract

To address the issue of image blurring caused by medical imaging mechanisms, a robust sharpening filter for improving the edges and fine details of medical images is proposed. The proposed sharpening process is achieved by subtracting specific spatial information, which is rapidly determined from the original image itself, and the amount of sharpness produced is controlled by an important adjustment weight. The above process helps to enhance the clarity of edges in the processed image and significantly improves the overall sharpness. Extensive experiments and comparisons conducted by applying the proposed sharpening filter to different medical images demonstrate that the proposed filter exhibits better robustness and is more suitable for medical image sharpening.
